How would we feel about a goth cafe? One that would also host goth club nights?
Me and my husband have been working out this plan for a couple of years now. Its going to be a visually gothic vampire themed establishment with a huge focus on goth music/sub culture. We live a bit further out from a more well known scene…Its bigger and has at least a few other alternative establishments. Area we currently are in has a more fledgling scene and only a couple of small businesses that are alternative. I am trying to figure out what would be the best course of action. I'd love to help build the local scene where we are. The problem is it's more expensive here for rent, but packing up our lives and changing day jobs would be probably just as expensive. The other area is also pretty established and I am worried we would be taking up space from another venue as there are several that already have goth nights Wherever our bat wings land us we want to create a safe and welcoming space for everyone. I would love some perspectives on if we should stay and try to maybe get some help with funding or make a big move and possibly take out a larger loan. Anyway if this kind of post is not allowed or if I maybe used the wrong flaire please let me know. Thank you🦇

I just got invited to a “goth baddies assemble” group on Instagram and the contents sickened me. What I didn’t show here that was in the chat was clip art of sexual acts. As per the discussion flair, what do you all do when experiences occur where you’re objectified? (Also feel free 2 report them)
I just got invited to a "goth baddies assemble" group on Instagram and the contents sickened me. What I didn't show here that was also in the chat was clip art of sexual acts. All from the people you see in the screenshots. It was disgusting to see, and infuriating. The constant fetishization of the subculture pisses me off on a daily damn occurrence. I reported the chat itself and the people, but I of course doubt that IG will even do a damn thing. I felt the need, amidst my agitation lmao, to come to reddit to vent about it and use it as an opportunity for discussion on how you as individuals feel about this constant issue and what you do to prevail over this and any experiences you've had related to being sexualized and objectified without your consent, when just trying to exist and mind your business.
(And if any of yall feel the desire to seek out that scum and mass report them, that would just be sweet, sweet justice 🤭 but that's just a bonus lol)

Anyone here like Ghost Dance/And Also the Trees?
They're two of my favorite bands in the scene, and I wanted to know if anyone else here also likes them. I also just wanted to give them a mention because they were among the first bands I took a liking to as I was getting into goth music. My favorite song by Ghost Dance is A Deeper Blue and my fav by And Also the Trees is Slow Pulse Boy.

And also the trees
Is anyone else consistently shocked this band doesn't get more credit or mentions? Unrivaled old-school original Goth. Absolutely in a league of their own.

Goth songs that non goths also like?
My boyfriend is gonna propose to me soon (relevant I promise) we've even picked out a ring together and we already know it will be a pretty small wedding, we don't have a lot of friends or even extended family who would really want to be there, so we have decided against a DJ, but I'll be honest it's also partly because I'd like to have a little more control over the music given that my tastes are what they are. So basically here it is, most if not all of the friends I'm inviting are also really into goth music, and it's also something I would want to include in the reception while everyone is dancing and having fun. Because when I personally think of dancing and letting loose, I think of goth.
But here's the thing, there will still be family members at the wedding, so essentially I'm looking for examples of goth music that won't seem partivularly abrasive or offensive to non goth adults in theyr 50s/60s. I'll be mixing them in with other music targeted more at some of our other guests so everyone will find something they'll like. I'll also take suggestions for "goth friendly but not necessarily goth" songs/ bands that some of my friends who'vebeen into goth a bit longer than I have would still likely enjoy, just to beef up the playlist a bit and have more options. It doesn't need to necessarily be anything a mainstream crowd of that age would LOVE, just something they wouldn't be too shocked to hear and wouldn't cause too much of a stir, thanks so much for the help. Bonus points for themes involving love/ romance.
